IMIsoft of India becomes part of Ramboll Telecom – the world’s leading design company within telecommunications. The acquisition is a significant strengthening of both IMIsoft’s and Ramboll Telecom’s position both in India and worldwide

Ramboll Group a leading engineering consultancy company in Northern Europe has acquired a majority stake in IMISoft Engineering. Established in 1988, IMIsoft provides specialised engineering services including software products for tower design, project management of tower construction, design and detail engineering consultancy and quality audit services covering the entire life cycle of tower construction. With 650 employees and 20 offices spread across India, IMIsoft’s customers include many of the country’s major telecom and power transmission companies.

Based in Denmark, Ramboll Group provides engineering, consultancy, product development and operation services within the areas of: Buildings, Energy & Climate, Environment & Nature, Industry & Oil/Gas, Infrastructure & Transport, IT & Telecom and Management and IT. It employs over 7000 dedicated specialists operating in a broad international context from 127 offices in the Nordic region and the UK and from 31 permanent offices in the rest of the world. Though Ramboll Group is owned by the Ramboll Foundation and it’s employees it adheres to a high level of corporate governance and publishes it’s quarterly results like a listed company. In 2007 The Ramboll Group recorded revenues of 966.78 million USD.

With the acquisition of a majority stake, Ramboll will expand the services portfolio offered to Telecom Infrastructure companies to include cellular site project services, project management and Operations & Maintenance of cellular sites.

Over the last few years Ramboll Telecom has managed to build a global position within telecom and this sector has just been defined as new global practice within the Ramboll Group. In the ENR-statistics published in July 2007 Ramboll Telecom is ranked  No. 2 among the Top 10 for International Design Firms in Telecommunication. With the aquistion of  IMIsoft, Ramboll Telecom emerges as  No. 1 in this sector internationally.

In 2006, Ramboll Telecom established a subsidiary in Gurgaon near New Delhi to serve the rapidly growing Indian mobile market. Ramboll Telecom’s towers have been approved and purchased by several mobile operators in India. Present clients include IDEA, Quipo, Essar, TowerVision and Reliance.

Along with Ramboll Group the Industrialisation Fund for Developing Countries (IFU) Denmark also acquired a minorty stake in IMISoft.  Mr. Vishwanath, founder of IMISoft, will continue as equity holder and will remain on the board of directors of the company helping the company with local expertise and customer relations. Mr. Sandeep Mirmire, General Manager of IMIsoft will become the CEO of the company.

 

The existing Ramboll Telecom business in India and the existing IMIsoft business will continue to operate as two separate legal entities.
